How to Write an Informative Restaurant Review

February 3, 2010 by Adriana Noton Comments Off

Writing a restaurant review is a fun way to share your thoughts and impressions about your dining experience. To write an informative review, you need to have knowledge about what key points you should include in your review. Not only is properly describing the food important, but you must have an understanding about the details of the restaurant. Once you have knowledge of the essential points to include, you then can present a well structured and organized restaurant review.

The following are a number of helpful tips to help you write a restaurant review:

1. Before you write a restaurant review, it is important to know how to structure the review. Make sure you are very descriptive and detailed. It is a personal review so emphasize your own writing style. Write complete sentences and use plenty of descriptive words and phrases. Write it in chronological order that includes from the moment you enter the restaurant to when you pay the bill and leave. Describe the restaurant in the present tense and in the second person. Using your own personality will help make the review unique.

2. Pick a restaurant you want to review. For example, you might choose Restaurants in Montreal. Or it might not even be a restaurant – it could be a cafe shop in Montreal. You want to make sure that there will be food that you like. When you enter the dining establishment, note such details as the interior appearance that includes the arrangement of tables, furnishings, decorations, colors, lighting, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Make sure you check out the condition of the bathrooms. As well, make a note of the friendliest of the staff, how long you have to wait to be seated and its location, and if the hostess asks if you would like a beverage. When you are seated, make a note of the atmosphere of the restaurant. Is it friendly, extremely busy and loud, or relaxing?

3. Once you receive a menu, note the variety of meal choices, prices, any unique dishes, and if there are any healthy meal options. You should have an appetizer, entre, and dessert to get the full dining experience. When you receive the meal, note if the food is cooked properly. Does it have a distinctive taste such as spicy or sweet? What is the portion size? When you make your meal selection, make sure it something you normally enjoy eating, As well, note how you are treated by the servers. Are they friendly, well dressed, courteous, knowledgeable about the food and specials, and attentive? Make a note of the meal’s presentation, taste, smell, and if it is hot or cold. Make sure that you use descriptive and creative words. Suggest who may enjoy the food such as families or people who enjoy fine dining dishes. As well, note how long it takes to receive your bill.

When making your recommendation, make sure you have made a note of anything you disliked about the restaurant and the total cost of the meal and if you received good value for your money. When ending the review, make a statement about whether or not you would return. Writing a restaurant is more than just reviewing the food. By understanding the key elements that should be included in the review, you will have a fun restaurant review experience and hopefully provide valuable consumer information.

General Research Methods: Special Guide Gals Have To Read!

December 18, 2009 by Victor Lazirly Comments Off

When you think of general information what comes to your mind? Something not very specific and you are not quite sure where you would want to start looking, right? What if the information your attempting to obtain is from maybe 50 or maybe 100 years ago? Would you starting looking at the library? They after all have a ton of books.

Looking there would be neat since it is filled with books and the old ones have that old smell to them. It is like taking a step back in time to when the book was written and you feel transported back to that very time.

But, lets get down to the best tools you can use and that is the information super highway which is the internet. It could easily take you 200 lifetimes and you still would not be able to put a dent into all of the information that is on the net now and is coming on the net daily. Start trying to find information on what you are searching for at public domain sites and government sites. Also, try some of the many other specific search engines that could help you that are on your topic as well.

What type of information are you looking for exactly, there are sites only for pdf’s, mp3’s, doc’s, text files, power point presentations, mind maps, software, scripts, programs, games, maps, mountains, gems, toys, plants, animals and tons of other ones as well.

The brass tacks of the matter is that you have to come up with a simple plan of attack for this to work for you. After figuring out what you are attempting to find and how you want the information delivered to you AKA the format. You will need to then decide what you are going to use the info for once you get it.

It seems like a lot of work, right? But all research really is hard work to be exact. Notice how I was first discussing general information but then gradually moved on to more specific information and how you need to go step by step until you get to the very nugget of information your trying to unearth? Which is called a Niche in its simplest form.

Now, once you have drilled down to this very specific Niche such as “how to feed a purple goldfish on the weekend” you will then know it is a niche and you are doing your work correctly.

I bet the thought has crossed your mind about who the heck am I, exactly? I have been in one form or another doing this type of research for approx. 15 years give or take a year. I find it rewards and fascinating how I am able to be find something that people would not even try to find. This is my passion and I hope you enjoy it as well. The above should set you on the right course to drill down and maybe find what your looking for. I wish you the best of luck on your quest for knowledge.

Your Net Worth is Determined by Your Net Work

November 4, 2009 by Michael Angier Comments Off

I used to think my library was my most valuable material possession. It’s still very important to me. But equally as important is my contact list.

No matter what you do or how self-reliant you may be, it’s impossible to succeed without knowing, working with and helping other people. Your network of clients, associates, partners, vendors and even competitors is-or should be-a cornerstone of your career and your business.

The old adage, “It’s not what you know, but WHO you know that counts,” may be as true today as it ever was-perhaps more so.

Who you know is your network. And it should be one of your most valuable assets. It’s up to you to plant, cultivate, nurture and harvest this network.

Being able to joint venture with others, ask the advice of people who know, collaborate with people, mastermind, do business and help each other is all part of networking.

Be Someone with Whom Others Want to Know If you really want to grow and enrich your network, you must become someone who enriches others. When you help other people get what they want, you can get what you want.

Be on the lookout for information and resources that will help those in your network. Go through your contact list and touch base with them from time to time. Ask them what they need and how you can be of service.

I’ve always loved what Muhammad Ali said, “Service to others is the rent I pay for my room here on Earth.”

Use Your PIM I use and like Microsoft Outlook. It may not be the best Personal Information Manager, but it works and works well for me and millions of others. It also comes as part of MS Office at no additional charge.

Learn how to master the contacts side of your PIM. It is an excellent tool that will allow you to file and categorize the contact information of everyone you know.

By the way, your contact list is easily backed up, but you must have a way to do it that is easy-and preferably-automated. Be sure to back up your PST file if you use Outlook and be sure to have a copy stored off-premises in case of a fire or other catastrophe.

Action Plan What are you doing to add to, file, track and work your contact list? Is it part of your strategic plan? If not, I urge you to make this an integral part of your business. Decide today where and how you will store your contact list. Add to it every day. And WORK your network.

Business Card Tip Make your business card a better networking card. Depending on your business, you may very well benefit from having your business card give the recipient a reason to contact you. On the back of your card, offer something like a free-report or special gift when visiting your web site.

Executive Summary Regarding California Gang Activity

October 20, 2009 by Gus Kalakis Comments Off

In 2005, the California Criminal Intel Bureau reported the following Executive Summary regarding crimes committed by gangs and terrorists. This report is compiled in order to predict and stop these types of illegal criminal enterprises. Here are some of the trending behaviors the report found:

An increasing number of law enforcement agencies discovered the effectiveness of gang injunctions at curtailing specific criminal behaviors and providing community relief from street gangs and their illegal activities.

Historically, gang members have displayed a propensity for violence against rival gang members; however, in 2005, this focus was increasingly redirected at law enforcement authorities, resulting in the murders of more than 10 law enforcement officers in California.

A governmental anti-gang initiative known as Community Shield, has been active in targeting MS-13 members (which is a Sureno gang). Several MS-13 members have been arrested relating to various crimes both violent and non-violent. Some of these include: narcotics offenses, grand theft auto, and various violations relating to paroled individuals.

Asian gang members are frequently able to hide in other states outside of California to avoid law enforcement capture.

Prosecutors continued to successfully employ the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act to assist in indicting members and associates of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG). This legal tactic has resulted in multiple convictions of OMG members for crimes including conspiracy to commit murder, drug transportation & trafficking, and extortion.

California has not suffered an attack by al-Qaeda. Authorities successfully prevented plots in 2000 and 2002 aimed at Los Angeles. It is believed that law enforcement initiatives specifically targeting this group have been largely successful in preventing their activities.

Investigation of a prison-based group known as Jamiyyat Ul-Islam Is Saheeh raised awareness of the potential for terrorist radicalization within the prison system, which will continue to garner significant attention from authorities in an effort to prevent the group from becoming a serious threat.

News, information, and updates regarding California crime and criminal law. If you have been charged with a crime, communicate ythe situation with a California criminal lawyer. Check back for the most recent information from the California criminal lawyer blog.

Your Business and Telephone Systems

October 15, 2009 by Tab Pierce Comments Off

Business owners sometimes take their telephone systems for granted, but they actually are one of the more important aspects for running a successful business. A business phone system can help an organization with staying in communication with their vendors, customers and employees. Some phone features are standard and come with just about any type of phone system, including call forwarding, transfer, voice mail, and your basic ring tone, but other considerations and advanced features will need to be carefully thought out when selecting the right telephone system for a business.

Before actually buying a business telephone system, the organization needs to determine which types of phone features are necessary and the number of individuals who will need to use the telephone system. Larger businesses often need to have advanced features, whereas smaller businesses may be able to get along just fine with basic features but be cost conscious. Every organization and business will need to figure out what their specific needs are for their telephone system.

There are two major types of business telephone systems. They are Private Branch Exchange, or PBX, and Voice Over IP (VOIP). Each of these systems have advantages and disadvantages which we will discuss. Before making a final decision on which system is best for your business you will need to not only understand these two systems, but also know what your particular business needs are.

A PBX telephone system offers a business a very wide variety of different phone features, from the most basic to the highly advanced. These telephone systems are run from a central PBX cabinet and are a private network. A business shares a specific number of external lines for making their telephone calls.

A PBX telephone system can be quite advanced and serve the more complicated phone system needs of large businesses. The biggest drawback is these telephone systems can be fairly expensive. Big businesses may find that the advanced features do outweigh the extra costs.

A Voice over IP or VOIP telephone system is the newest form of telephone system. This type of system is very advantageous for businesses who need to communicate with other employees, customers and vendors out of state and internationally. Phone calls are transmitted over the internet or any type of IP-based network instead of traditional phone lines.

Probably the biggest advantage to VOIP systems is the price. This type of system is a lot less expensive than a PBX phone system in terms of the monthly charge as well as the installation cost. Businesses can make long distance and international calls for a lot less money using a VOIP telephone system.

When selecting a telephone system of a business, the most important consideration is determining the exact phone needs of the business. Next some upfront research will need to be done and quotes from several telephone service providers obtained. These steps will help to ensure that the best telephone system is selected to meet the needs of the business.

Home Improvement Power Tools Tips For Individuals Looking To DIY

September 23, 2009 by Henri Shorneau Comments Off

In years gone by, repairs around the house were considered as work for contractors. In modern times, there is no reason why normal people should not to know how to use home improvement power tools. All you need is knowledge of six basic power tools and you will be on your way to home repair independence.

The most basic safety rule should be obvious: Never use a tool for anything other than what it was intended for. If you have children, stress that power tools are not toys. Do not let them play with the tools even when they are unplugged or turned off. Also, familiarize yourself with the purpose of each tool so that you do not use the wrong tool for a job.

Power drills are simple to operate. You put in the proper size drill bit and turn it on to drill a hole. With some practice, you can easily learn what size hole to drill for various projects.

Now you’re ready for your first saw. Reciprocating saws may look frightening, but if you can use a kitchen knife, you can use a reciprocating saw. You use this power tool to carve through wallboard and paneling.

If a tool requires protective clothing, make sure you wear that clothing. Sanders, for example, require you to wear protective goggles to keep dust from getting into your eyes. You should also make sure to use any protective apparatus on the power tools themselves. Compound miter saws often come with protective guards to be placed on the blades when not in use.

It may seem like a pain to keep taking such guards on and off, but this simple precaution stops anyone from cutting themselves on a sharp blade.

Once you’ve mastered all these tools, you’re ready for the big boss–the compound miter saw. This saw has a spinning circular blade and is used for making crosscuts in wood. Don’t panic; this saw is far safer than you’d think. It even has a safety cover to protect the blade when not in use. Home improvement power tools are neither hard to use nor dangerous. By using them, you can gain confidence and independence–two things every modern individual should want.

Online Bass Lessons: Take Lessons As Many Time As You Want

July 12, 2009 by Tom Wilcox Comments Off

There is little that proves more daunting for young bass players than realizing just how physically demanding it is to play bass. As novices watching our favorite bassists on video we think, “That doesn’t look so hard! I can do that!”

Take a regular guitar (which is tuned from the thickest to the lowest string- E – A – D – G – B – E) and exclude the two thinnest strings at the bottom and what is left is basically a bass guitar with thinner strings. Bass playing is usually note-oriented and not chord-oriented. This means that single notes are hit more often in bass playing and this scheme is the essential element of bass playing, one should be familiar with the tunings and the notes in a regular guitar to be able to decently play the bass guitar.

A bass guitar is heavy and cumbersome to carry around, because of all the supporting gadgets that come with it, not to mention the long cables that accompany all of the gadgets. Bass guitars are expensive to purchase, and also tough to learn. But these are indispensable in any pop or rock band. A bass guitar can indeed be the most prized possession of a devoted bassist.

Bass players want to be able to play the type of leads, licks and arpeggio runs that the pro players are doing, yes since most bass players have a really poor knowledge of their fretboard patterns and their application of them is so limited that it becomes a set back to their ability to play more and do more with their instrument. Not only do they need to know the right pattern to use and how to execute them in many different ways, but they also need to know how to practice with them. Regular practice with the proper set of fretboard patterns is a necessary component of becoming a seasoned player, time must be spent with practice, but it is important to know how to practice so that hours a day are not spent with insufficient result.

It can be played by plucking, slapping, tapping, popping, or by picking the strings with a pick. The bass guitar looks somewhat similar to an electric guitar, but with a larger, heavier body, a longer scale length, and a longer neck. The bass guitar usually has four strings, tuned one octave lower in pitch than the four lower strings of a guitar.

It is clearly not enough to know how to play your favorite instrument; you should always be looking to find new techniques and ways of playing. Learn blues bass guitar and rock the house. You may prefer a particular style of music over many others and when you begin learning a new instrument but perhaps over time, you will develop a fondness for other styles or genres.

The next link in the chain would be the choice of bass guitar. A $10 flea market bought bass would sound radically different from a $1000 Warwick, so choose which one suits the music wisely. Choice of strings (roundwound, flatwound, etc) also influences the resulting sound and character of the bass, as well as its behavior in interacting with the bassist’s fingers.

Learning your bass patterns from alternate views of music theory and fretboard theory will result in a large impact on your bass playing skill, which is what being a great bass player is all about. For example traditional patterns, modern patterns, in position and out of position patterns need to be an integral part of your bass lessons.

Online Bass Guitar Lessons: Reinforce The Concepts Many Times As You Need To

July 10, 2009 by Quinn Stone Comments Off

Are you serious about wanting to improve you bass guitar playing? If you are, then one of the most productive things you can do is work on your scales. It has even been said that the level of your scale playing pretty much determines the level of your bass playing overall! I have designed these exercises to help you to develop a more accurate sense of rhythm and to improve the speed and agility of your bass guitar scales.

Getting a guitar strap can help your hands focus on playing instead of carrying the instrument. It is advisable to keep your fingernails trimmed so that they do not interfere with the sound. Blisters signify the first signs of learning. They hurt a lot, but eventually you will get used to them and eventually calluses will develop to protect you from the sting.

If your strings ever break mysteriously at the bridge, check your saddles. If there are any string “bite” marks, snags or burrs on the saddles, it means that they are wearing down your strings and the constant vibration of the strings makes the burrs act like little saws on the windings of the string. Eventually the core gives in – and POW, there goes a string – and possibly an eyeball.

Beginner bass players should learn these right away to save them years of time, trouble and frustration, but that most often never happens for them. Intermediate bass players have to have some patterns under their belt to even be at an intermediate level, however, they are usually the most frustrated players because they feel like they are getting somewhere with their instrument, but the are so held up with partial information that they can’t move beyond where they are at.

The lst note of the exercise will be the first notes of the sixteenth note exercise. Another important thing to develop in bass playing is the strength of both hand’s fingers. The bass guitar is a sturdy and solid musical instrument, strength is needed to play it.

NEVER SING if you feel uncomfortable about it. NEVER HARMONIZE if you’re not sure what notes to hit with the lead singer. Avoid “falsetto vocals” if at all possible. Falsetto only belongs when you are driving in the car, ALONE, and with your favorite CD playing

This means that in the future you may feel the benefits from experiencing some different styles of playing bass guitar in your development period. This means that bass lessons can be invaluable at any stage of your playing career as there is always time to learn new skills and styles. People should always try to evolve and develop new skills and even their musical preferences can change over time.

Feel the beat, playing the bass guitar differs primarily from playing a regular guitar because it entails an emphasis on the beat of the music. One can compare the bass guitar into a drum or percussion set that is made into a guitar. Beats are very important in playing bass guitar because this type of guitar gives depth and timing to any song.
